Manchester City were overwhelming favourites to win their sixth FA Cup Final, whilst Wigan Athletic were playing in their first ever major final. Not since Wimbledons famous victory over Liverpool 1988 had their been such a shock win. Pablo Zabalta had been only the third player in FA Cup Final history to be shown a red card before Ben Watson scored the shock winner for Wigan in stoppage time.
