Excellent condition programme from the 1988 FA Cup Final, Liverpool v Wimbledon. Unfancied Wimbledon took on the League Champions Liverpool. Very few away from the “Crazy Gang”, who a little over a decade earlier were a non league team, fancied getting anything from this match and to many were there just to make the numbers up. Vinnie Jones, John Fashanu, Dennis Wise and ultimately Dave Beasant who became the first keeper to save a penalty in a FA Cup Final (missed by John Aldridge), all had other ideas. Lawrie Sanchez scored to give Wimbledon a unforgetfull famous FA Cup Final win. Unfortunately for Wimbledon, just like Coventry the year before, Wimbledon were denied a European Competition place because of the ban on English clubs competing in domestic European competitions!
